The Sansibar blade, long known to be the weapon of choice of the fierce Waray-warays, has a maximum length of 38 inches and comes in four basic designs: Balabag, Tinamban, Binatangas and Binulang. The Binatangas, shaped like the famous Balisong knife of Batangas, is the most popular blade and basic design for the Carigara bolos.
Quoting the designer, “This was an honest attempt to create a trainer similar to the Sansibar blade of Carigara, Northern Leyte that I received earlier this year from Master Christopher N. Ricketts of Kali Ilustrisimo. I also received another Carigara bolo from JC, Mike and Francis Smith of Teovel Balintawak (Gold Chapter) and World Nickelstick Eskrima Club in Cebu City but that's for a later project.”
Precisely engineered by a like-minded R&D team with countless years of experience and painstakingly assembled using right fasteners to keep the "sweet spot" at the bottom, you will not find a better balanced trainer.
The photos do not give this high-quality product any justice. As to how we got that sexy curve in the blade... let's just say that it's a trade secret.
